I’m not completely sure about the theology of nativity scenes, but there certainly seems to be more significance then a Christmas tree when it comes to celebrating the birth of the Messiah. They say that the first one was created not far from here in the town of Assisi.
Yesterday however I ran into one of the most original nativity scenes, that reflects Perugia’s reputation as the city of Chocolate.
At the Cioccolateria (Chocolate Store) near the center of town I saw my first chocolate nativity scene.
Yum!
